I spent a long time optimising my resume. Match scores, keyword density, ATS-friendly formatting - I got very good at all of it. My inbox stayed empty.
Here's what I eventually worked out: a resume score tells you how well a document matches a posting. It tells you nothing about whether anyone will read it, and it doesn't send itself anywhere. Jobscan is genuinely good at the diagnosis. It gives you two applications a month and asks you to approve both, which is honest - and it's also the whole problem. The bottleneck was never knowing what to fix. It was doing it, hundreds of times, alone.
So I hired a college student from India and trained them to apply on my behalf. I landed a job in 60 days.
